Civic Engagement On Campus
Barnard Votes Student Ambassadors
The Office of Community Engagement and Inclusion appoints Barnard Votes Student Ambassadors to lead and organize programming to encourage student voter registration and mobilization for the 2024 Election this Fall. Ambassadors will take part in voter registration and engagement strategies working with CEI, student organization collaborators and other groups across campus. Information about new Ambassadors coming soon!

IMMIGRATION
African Communities Together is an organization of African immigrants fighting for civil rights, opportunity, and a better life for our families here in the U.S. and worldwide.
Afrikana support New York’s oldest and newest residents. They provide referrals to local resources as well as in-kind support (i.e. food pantry, clothing, school supplies).
Sign up for a seven-week clinic cycle to support pro se asylum applications (for folks without an attorney). Interpreters, document drafters, and childcare workers needed. Meets Tuesday evenings at Rutgers Presbyterian on the UWS.
BAJI (Black Alliance for Just Immigration)
BAJI educates and engages African American and Black immigrant communities to organize and advocate for racial, social and economic justice.
Students for Sanctuary strives to mobilize Columbia students to take action in the fight for immigration justice and reform.
The Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) advocates for fair and humane immigration policies and provides migrants and immigrants with humanitarian, legal, and social services, with a particular focus on Black people, the Haitian community, women and girls, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and survivors of torture and other human rights abuses.
Make the Road New York builds the power of immigrant and working class communities to achieve dignity and justice.
New York Immigration Coalition
NYIC is an umbrella policy & advocacy organization that represents over 200 immigrant and refugee rights groups throughout New York.
NSC provides person-to-person support to many hundreds of immigrants — the people we call “friends,” not clients — facing detention and deportation. Their “Sanctuary Hood” program provides outreach and rights training to immigrants and to organize safe spaces for immigrants at churches, businesses and homes.
Project Rousseau offers full-scope, comprehensive immigration services. This includes a full screening with an attorney or Department of Justice accredited representative, to assess a family’s suitability for immigration relief.
A progressive church on the UWS that partners with mutual aid organizations in the city and has a variety of volunteer opportunities to support asylum seekers and refugees
A network fighting to create space for currently and formerly undocumented Black immigrants to not only survive but thrive.
UnLocal, Inc. is a community-centered non-profit organization that provides direct immigration legal representation and community education to New York City’s undocumented immigrant communities. Community-centered organization that serves undocumented New Yorkers. Looking for volunteers here.
