Voting in NYC
All Barnard students who are U.S. citizens are eligible to register and vote in New York.
By choosing to do so, you can have a direct impact on local policies and leaders that affect your day-to-day life.
Your vote will help decide New York's Congressional and state representatives. The first step is registering to vote, which can be done online.
There are three ways to cast your ballot in the 2026 NYC Primary and General Elections:
Early Voting
Early Voting begins 10 days before Election Day and ends on the Sunday before Election Day.
Vote by Early Mail Ballot
The New York Early Mail Voter Act allows all voters to vote early by mail. You don’t need to provide a reason to vote by mail!
June Primary Election: Last day to apply online is June 13, 2026. You may still apply in person at your county board of elections through June 22, 2026.
November General Election: Last day to apply online is October 24, 2026. You may still apply in person at your county board of elections through November 2, 2026.
